As you may know, CBD’s legal status is similar to that of a dietary supplement, meaning that it isn’t regulated by the FDA in the same way that more conventional food and drug products are. From a consumer standpoint, this means that it’s essential to know everything you can about the products you buy before you trust a company with your business—that’s exactly why we started our CBD review program dubbed “The Consumer Reports of CBD”.
The lack of federal accountability for CBD companies makes it exceedingly difficult for the average consumer to discern high-quality CBD products from what is essentially snake oil in flashy packaging. Our mission is to increase brand accountability by independently testing products from a consumer perspective. Here, we lay out the criteria we use to vet CBD manufacturers and why they’re important to help ensure you get the best quality CBD products available. Every brand we work with is required to meet these standards of quality and pass our strict vetting process:

Our Review Process
Sadly, it’s very common for CBD review sites to churn out formulaic “reviews” of products from a precompiled list of talking points, usually by someone who has never even seen the physical product, let alone used it personally. We believe that this style of “reviewing” is deceptive at best and strive to do better by our readers.
Each product we review has been personally tested by a human being, who will discuss their experience with the product in detail. Some products can be tested after a single dose, while others will need to be used over a longer period of time to gauge their effectiveness; in addition to the specifics of the product itself, we will also lay out an overview of our methodology for each particular product, from the length of time we used the product to the math we used to calculate the cost per milligram.
What This Means For You
In order to source the best CBD products for your health, you need to be a conscious and informed consumer. Our goal as an organization is to verify the potency, purity, safety, and legality of the products we investigate, taking the burden off of you. If a product fails to meet our standards (or those advertised on its label), we explain where, why, and how it fell short, supporting our stance with any and all applicable data. We are dedicated to transparency and accountability, and hope to inspire CBD companies to make a similar commitment.
