Smell (Irrelevant to effects): 

As soon as you open the jar, your nostrils will be hit with the beautiful, refreshing, and soothing smell of essential oils like rosemary, lavender and eucalyptus. There is no noticeable smell produced by the hemp derived CBD extract infused into the topical. The mild, yet pleasant aroma is sweet and lightly floral.

Consistency:

The consistency of this product is soft and buttery. The salve has a gentle grain to it and remains workable like a waxy cream. It starts off somewhat solid and then turns into more of an oil when heated or rubbed on the skin. It’s easy to apply and spread on the skin’s surface. The consistency is great for rubbing in—would be excellent to use as massage oil. The rub itself is off-white in color.

Effects (Onset, Duration, Intensity):

The effects are mild, yet relieving. We found that the Deep Rub effects can begin to be felt within 5 to 20 minutes. We found that duration depended on where the rub was applied and what the ailment was, but overall, lasted a couple hours. It is worth noting that this salve does not produce an icy/hot sensation.

Best used for:

In our experience, the Deep Rub works best for joint pain and arthritis. We did not find it to be as effective with muscle strains—the Muscle Recovery salve is superior for sore muscles. The other application we found great success with the Deep Rub was in the treatment of surface burns. However, it’s important to note that the Deep Rub should not be applied to open wounds. The Deep Rub significantly reduces pain and inflammation associated with arthritis, burns, and deteriorating joints.

Best used with (Complimentary Product): 

This is a localized product, meaning it will only provide relief to the area that it was applied. That said, we recommend combining this product with the Full Spectrum Daily Tinctures for systemic relief. The tinctures will help further reduce pain and inflammation from the inside out. For instantaneous, full-body relief, we suggest pairing this product with the 99% CBD Isolate from Ambary Gardens.

Value/Price:

This product has a total of 250mg of organic CBD in a 1oz. jar—meaning this topical salve is quite concentrated—the most potent of any of the topicals offered by Ambary Gardens. The jar lasted us a very long time. Obviously, the larger the area you apply to, the more product you’ll use with each application.

Competition/Alternatives:

There are many CBD companies making topical salves. There are two main factors to consider when choosing a topical salve: was the starting material grown organically and are there any synthetic ingredients are in the salve? In the case of the Deep Rub, the hemp starting material was grown all organically and the salve contains no nasty chemical ingredients (it contains 100% plant derived ingredients). We’ve found that topical salves that include THC as well as CBD seem to be the most effective. That said, this Deep Rub is the best CBD-only topical salve we have tested.
